This portrait series, inspired by the directness of Edward S. Curtis and Richard Avedon, presents eleven individuals whose tattoos serve as visible records of their personal histories. Through medium to close-up shots, the project explores how these permanent markings reflect significant memories, shape identity, and embody lived experiences.
The core idea is that our past leaves a lasting impact, much like ink on skin. Our experiences and decisions contribute to who we are in the present.
In "Tattooed Lives," each portrait reveals layers of the individual's history – their experiences, memories, and perspectives. While the tattoos themselves are permanent marks, their meaning is deeply personal for each person. Together, these visual elements represent the complexity and unity of the individual today. This project invites reflection on the enduring nature of the past and its influence on the present self.
