Discovering Light Book Design

Discovering Light is a timeless portrayal of New York City by photographer Kevin Pineda Gould, documenting a journey of self-discovery, inspiration, and artistic pursuit, via monochrome street photography. Kevin and I collaborated closely throughout the design of the book which I spearheaded from concept phase through curation, sequencing, layout design, and finally production.

Both an homage to New York City and a testament to determination, this limited edition hardcover book consolidates his photography work from a post-pandemic era, interconnected by the passing of seasons: from spring/summer hope through fall/winter dreariness. Focused on elements such as isolation, architecture, despair, and resilience, Discovering Light is an experiential registry through visual storytelling observed by a city newcomer.

Presented within is a world free from color, where light and shadow are the protagonists and where feeling, composition, and subjects are at the center.
