Bringing the Mama Bear Transit Brand to Life

When my mentor Hans Fleurimont reached out needing branding help for a new client's startup, I jumped at the chance to collaborate with him again. Hans was working with Samantha Greene, founder of Mama Bear Transit - a new non-emergency medical transportation provider hoping to disrupt the industry with a focus on timeliness, reliability, safety and passenger comfort. Samantha needed a brand identity and visuals that could be translated into an app, capturing the essence of her company's vision to deliver care and protection worthy of a mama bear.

The Process

My process started with rough sketches exploring visual metaphors that would be represent Mama Bear. I presented these to Samantha for feedback and she gravitated towards concepts merging motherly bears with subtle transit cues. I refined the top ideas into three distinct brand directions for her to choose from.
Samantha fell in love with one design in particular - the iconic Mama Bear Hug. You can see a warmhearted mama bear arms wrap around a passenger in transit. The negative space created a comforting image subtly woven into the iconography. The color scheme of electric and soft purples evoked relaxation and luxury. Clean, friendly fonts aligned with the tech space. And the core mama bear image amplified the brand vision beautifully.

Continuing a Fruitful Partnership

With Samantha's approval, we finalized the visual identity. The app is currently in development will likely launch in 2024. I'm thrilled I got to work Hans on this project. Together, we made a great team and produced great results. Being entrusted with branding innovative startups like Mama Bear Transit and helping a woman's dream come to fruition is so rewarding.
