Reddit Recap

Reddit enlisted the team at DEPT Creative to help promote their 2022 end-of-year Recap. But with so many brands crafting their own (from Spotify Wrapped to Google’s Year in Search), they needed to cut through the noise with a campaign that felt uniquely Reddit.

WE CRAFTED AND PRODUCED TWO CAMPAIGNS:
The first one tapped into Reddit’s irreverent humor, where we imagined an alternate universe in which talking bananas were Reddit’s main user base.

The second one addressed the competition head on, hijacking a fake Spotify ad and turning it into a hilarious Reddit Recap takeover.

Beyond our hero videos, we built a creative ecosystem for both campaigns with tease, launch, and sustain assets for all platforms. Both campaigns captured the attention of our audience and the media, with Reddit users praising the tone and characters we created. They went as far as creating a subreddit dedicated to our alt universe bananas.
