With the upcoming release of Windows 11, we were brought on to design the operating system’s default wallpapers—a modular system of designs intended to display beautifully on any Windows Device. We were tasked with celebrating the system’s imaginative qualities by focusing our efforts on CGI-based images of various natural elements.

To establish a consistent system of design across day & night modes as well as a variety of screen sizes, the visual language makes use of luscious textural close-ups and forms made highly graphic through rich use of backlight and color washes. The result was a wonderfully minimalistic approach to evocative imagery filled with subtle details.
