This Could Be You—The Archive Project

As a collective, we asked ourselves: What is important to archive now? We brought in 10 artifacts. Then 20 more. We interrogated each other on the role of each artifact, moving things within a grid of eight squares, making connections. We were admittedly just as interested in the process of archiving as we were in the archive itself. Mostly, we talked about everything, in every way possible.

This is an archive with the purpose of reconstructing an unknown identity, one of which exists as both the self and other. Could is an absurdist terror manifest, a shared fantasy anchored by seemingly-dead artifacts lying dormant—and yet, to us, they resurface anew with utilitarian purpose: survival, mark-making, reminders, and assistance. Be archives lost time, marginalia and gaps in understanding—an investigation of the space between a person and an artifact. You is an archive defined by the Google search: "The unlimited potential of containers."

All color flats were printed on a previously retired Heidelberg Kord 64, revived solely for The Archive Project.
