I have always been fascinated by meta references--the moments at which a something references itself. Construction materials, like frames to a film, are assembled together to support a structure. Construction materials within a finished structure, however, offer a glimpse at how the structure around them was built in the first place. This meta-referentiality of construction materials within a finished structure inspires and parallels the frame within a frame structure of 2 x 1.
